Well! Our situation has turned around since last week, thanks to an outpouring of support from the community around Iffy Books. We now have a few months’ rent on hand as a buffer, which makes everything less stressful. And enough folks stepped up to join our Patreon that I can realistically keep doing this as my main source of income. Incredible. If everything stays on track, it looks like we can stay open indefinitely.
You did it! Thank you for making this possible, whether you donated or re-posted or told a friend. And thanks to everyone who stopped by or sent a note to let us know how much this place means to you. It’s been heartening, to say the least.
Now it’s shoulder-to-the-wheel time. We’re gonna keep doing what we’re doing, sharing useful knowledge and helping build community. If you haven’t been to the shop in a while, you should come out for an event! We have a handful of new workshops running in June–July, and a long list of ideas I can’t wait to get to.
If you’re looking for places to channel your money, you should donate to a mutual aid group in your area. In Philly, consider donating to Juntos and Philadelphia Community Bail Fund. Making a longer list is tempting, but I know I’ll leave someone out and hurt their feelings. So stop by the shop for more suggestions!
By the way, we’re having a 4th birthday party for Iffy Books on Friday, July 25th from 6–10 p.m. If you’re near Philly, it would be great to see you.
Again, thank you!
